The Buxton Fringe was founded in 1980, originally to provide a complement to the hugely popular Buxton Festival which ran every July. 31 years on and the Fringe has grown to become a major festival in its own right – its uncontrolled 'Fringe' ethos making it a fantastic mix of the widest possible range of entertainment.
The Buxton Fringe is now the 2nd largest Fringe in England (and the third in the UK), with its acts – both student, amateur and professional – coming from all over the country. It's timing, just after Brighton and just before Edinburgh, make it the perfect touring location for some of the hottest talent on its way north to Scotland.
